Spanish Fun Program

Spanish Fun Program

The Missituk 2nd Grade Students were able to participate in a program by Spanish Fun Program program run by Esther Gomez in late May. This included part of the story of Kathy the Caterpillar and also about the Monarch Butterflies which travel to Mexico each year. Students learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and their 4 stages which are collectively known as metamorphosis.

Each student followed the 4 stages by doing 100% hands-on activities in each stage full of songs and dancing. Once they completed the 4 stages of a butterfly, they will use a butterfly costume. Students "flew" to Mexico by singing and dancing, Together, they learned when and how the Monarch butterflies arrive in Mexico. Each student got to keep their own butterfly egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and the adult butterfly.

Special thanks to the Missituk PTO for organizing this amazing enrichment program for our 2nd grade students!
