Jump Start Read for the Record 2023
For the 12th year in a row, the Missituk Elementary School helped to break a record for the most people reading the same book on the same day. This day is known as JumpStart Read for the Record Day and took place on Thursday, October 26th. JumpStarts aim is to put books in the hands of more children across the country.
This year's title was With Lots of Love written by Jenny Torres Sanchez and illustrated by Andre Ceolin.
Our PreK, K, and 1st grade classes had the pleasure of being read by our special guest readers. They were: Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, Mrs. Marie Cassidy, Mrs. Faiza Khan, Mrs. Diane Caldwell, Ms. Ingrid Moncada, Mrs. Joan Bowen, Dr. Peter Cushing, Mr. Paul D'Alleva, Dr. Nicole Chiesa, Ms. Abi Harper, Mrs. Ann Patten, and Mrs. Shannon Handler. One of our readers read to a group of children in Spanish. The purchased title each year is then donated to the Missituk library.
Missituk Grade 5 students read the story to students in Grade 3 and Grade 4 students read to the 2nd grade. We thank them for their help in breaking the record too!

Now we have to wait to see if we broke the record set last year!
